V5 Part Design

Duration: 40 Hours
Prerequisite: V5 Fundamentals
Cost: $1500.00

Course Description

The course introduces the student to the CATIA V5 Part Design workbench. The creation of Sketch-Based Features and best-practice methodology is stressed throughout the class. The class will cover all areas for the Part Design Workbench while interacting with Sketcher and Reference Elements to create modifiable parts.

Course Objective

At the end of this course, students will be able to build or change simple and complex solid models with the ability to:

  • Create and modify Sketch Based features
  • Perform Boolean operations such as:
    • Assemble
    • Remove
    • Union/Trim
  • Manage profiles using the Sketcher workbench
  • Apply Draft, Thickness and fillets to Sketch Based features
  • Correctly organize the tree to enable maximum utilization of the Boolean Operation

Generative Shape Design (GSD)

Duration: 80 Hours
Prerequisite: V5 Fundamentals
Cost: $3000.00

Course Description

Generative Shape Design (GSD) allows users to create a history-based part that will save time in the incorporation of engineering changes and modifications. GSD will introduce students to the functions used for the creation of a surfaced part in the CATIA Version 5 environment. Students will be taught "Best Practice" methods and processes for the efficient design of parts. They will learn how to reuse like elements in the course of a design, identify the driving features of a part and proper filleting and trimming order. Students will also learn how to logically manage the specification tree so downstream users will easily understand it.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of the CATIA V5 Generative Shape Design Course, the student is able to:

  • Create wireframe elements
  • Create surfaces
  • Fillet features
  • Trim elements
  • Manage the specification tree
  • Create Powercopies
  • Catalog templates

Generative Drafting

Duration: 16 Hours
Prerequisite: V5 Fundamentals
Cost: $600.00

Course Description

Generative Drafting introduces students to the CatDrawing format. CatDrawings are the two dimensional representation of a CATPart or CATProduct. Drawings are created by projecting views and creating text and dimensions to call out specific details of a part.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of the CATIA V5 Generative Drafting, the student is able to:

  • Project multiple views of a part
  • Create dimensions
  • Add and remove call outs
  • Modify location, scale and rotation of views
  • Modify line type, hidden lines, thickness axis, fillet representation and patterns
  • Create text

The instructor performs a series of lectures, demonstrations, exercises and oral quizzes to evaluate the student's comprehension of the course material.

Digital Mock-up / Kinematics (DMU)

Duration: 40 Hours
Cost: $1500.00
Prerequisites: V5 Fundamentals

Course Description

CATIA V5 DMU (Digital Mock-Up) provides users an environment to design in context and/or quickly evaluate existing CAD designs through visual examination, interference, clearance, fit checking, sectioning, and measuring. The design data, being mathematically simplified, allows for large groups of geometry to be accessed and evaluated simultaneously. This course describes how to modify components in the DMU/V5 environment.. This includes exploding assemblies, annotating parts, quickly and accurately relocating parts, creating animations, and optimizing the parts for use.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of the CATIA V5 Digital Mock-up / Kinematics (DMU), the student is able to:

  • DMU Navigator
  • DMU Space Analysis
  • DMU Optimizer
  • DMU Kinematic
  • DMU Fitting

The instructor performs a series of lectures, domonstrations, exercises and oral quizzes to evaluate the student's comprehension of the course material.

V5 Prismatic Machining

Duration: 40 Hours
Cost: $1500.00
Prerequisites:V5 Fundamentals

Course Description

CATIA V5 Prismatic Machining introduces students to "Best Practices" for creating CNC machine programs. Using a 2 Axis process. Students will learn a veriaty of options for creating a "cutter path" utilizing only 2 axis for running the machining process.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of the CATIA V5 Prismatic Machining Course, the student is able to:

  • Create a Cutterpath
  • Run Machining on a 2 Axis system

The instructor performs a series of lectures, domonstrations, exercises and oral quizzes to evaluate the student's comprehension of the course material.
